Knitting Conquered

I'm not terribly fond of knitting. I like knits and I like the patterns knitting produces, but to actually sit down and knit something takes a great deal of dedication on my part. That said, I finally finished a knitted project--partially to prove to myself that it was possible to complete even the simplest knitted design and partially because I like giving handmade gifts whenever I can. So this scarf is my first completed knitted project and my mother-in-law's 53rd birthday present:
